Before I continue sharing what I know, I want to add that it has been the catalyst for significant tranaformation in my own PTSD & trauma healing journey, and that I would never promote a modality that I haven't had significant first hand experience with first. My Kundalini journey started back around 2013 with a full awakening, and then was guided through a very long dark night of the soul before landing firmly on the healers path of truth seeking ascendance.

What is a Kundalini Activation?
Kundalini Activation stems from ancient yogic wisdom, helping the devotee connect with their internal life force energy and release blockages that are held deeply within, on the journey to a Kundalini Awakening - rising into a peaceful state of love, appreciation, bliss, and self mastery. The facilitator may utilise breathwork or other somatic experiences to help participants move from their mental processing (divine masculine), 'monkey mind', into a deeper state of intuitive self-awareness (divine feminine) where they can surrender to their subconscious or 'higher self', thus, allowing the intelligent wisdom of the body to start processing changes that need to take place in order to ascend on their path. When activated, the energy then travels up from the base of the spine, through the seven main chakras and nadi's (akin to meridians), stimulating the 'blockages' within, and potentially leading to a deep healing, release, more profound sense of self, or even unity consciousness and greater spiritual awareness.
In a group activation, you can expect an introduction which will include what Kundalini is, as well as how it works, and what you might experience; followed by some somatic or breathwork, tailored music, and then you will lie down on a yoga mat with your eyes closed to experience the movement of the energy alight within. This is a deeply personal experience, so it's important to keep your eyes closed, not compare, and come back to your own experience if you are distracted by that of another through noise (some people may sing, laugh, hum, cry, light language, or yell in a session depending on their journey). At the end of the experience, you will go through an integration period on the mat, and ground back into the room before having some time to share your experience if you feel called to.
Each session will vary for the participant depending on what is currently needing to surface in order to be seen, acknowledged, and released, aiding the aspirant to keep rising on their highest timeline for the greatest good of their soul within this lifetime.

How does one become a Kundalini Activation facilitator?
Practitioners have often spent many years working with energy medicine, (particularly Kundalini energy) embodying it's wisdom, and clearing their own channel through deep shadow work in order to hold more 'light', or higher vibrational energy. They are often very devoted to their own spiritual path, have undergone spiritual or kundalini awakening themselves, and have a strong knowledge base around holding space for others, knowing what to expect. There are many different lineages of Kundalini Activation teachers, so be sure you understand where that person has learned, what they were taught, and that you feel comfortable and safe within their containers. My personal certification is as a 'Trauma informed somatic healing facilitator and kundalini activation facilitator', but I have also studied as an 800 yoga teacher in India (hatha, vinyasa, kundalini, ashtanga, yoga therapy), and have many years of experience with different energy healing and somatic healing modalities such as Reiki, Sekhem, Ascension Reiki, Ashati, Alsemia, as well as being a certified mind-body practitioner and wellness coach.
How does a Kundalini Activation work?
The practitioner self-activates the energy within, allowing themselves to become a conduit of the healing energy of the serpent, shakti, or divine feminine essence, embodying it, and allowing it to rise through them as a channel by augmenting their own luminous field. Through this specialised process, they create a vortex or biofield of energy, which amplifies your vibration and begins to activate your Kundalini Shakti (divine feminine life force energy), and your energy rises to meet this vibration. Energy-in-motion (emotions), blockages, pain, and so fourth that resonate at a lower, denser vibrational energy, then rise from within to be experienced, witnessed, released, or embodied in a way that raises your vibration, creating a more pure, clearer channel within you for your highest and greatest good. This creates a psychosomatic release, meaning that you may begin finishing 'processes' that were previously incomplete to release them, which can sometimes include trauma, grief, anger, rage, fear or other expressions. Many people experience blissful journeys too, so it very much depends what is ready to rise on the day for you, or the intention that you set for yourself. Afterwards you may feel quite tired, or equally, quite energised and revived.

How can Kundalini Activation help you?
Kundalini Activation is a process that works with subconscious information that is stored within the body, mind, and emotions, some of which may have been held for your lifetime, or have been carried through ancestral lineages. As well known trauma informed psychiatrist Bessel Van Der Kolk would state; 'The body keeps score', and Kundalini Activation, is one way we can help get to the root cause of the body-mind's repression of these stories we hold within, in order to release them.
It has been shown to aid:
Big life changes (pregnancy, moving, ageing, career)
Increase intuition and psychic connection
Release repressed anger, internal chaos, disharmony, and resentment
Traumatic experiences, dissociation, and PTSD
Grief, loss, and sadness
Rewire and balance your nervous system
Increase courage, confidence and personal empowerment
Feeling stuck
Pain and stress relief
Enhance libido, passion, and sensuality
Relationship breakdowns
Increase mental clarity
Support peri-menopause and menopause
Enhance spiritual gifts and spiritual connectedness
Releasing shame and guilt
Emotional balancing
Anxiety and the build up of pressure on the nervous system
Spiritual evolution and transcendence
Personal transformation

What are the five 'bodies' or kosha's in yogic wisdom that kundalini activation targets?
Anamaya Kosha (Food/Physical Sheath): This is the outermost and most physical layer, consisting of the body's physical structure like muscles, bones, and organs. Kundalini activation can help bring energy to blockages within the physical body, helping to release illness, or send healing energy to old wounds.
Pranamaya Kosha (Energy/Breath Sheath): This is the layer of life force or vital energy, organized by the breath (prana) and interconnected with the physical body. Kundalini activation bridges the pranamaya kosha (sometimes depicted as the auric layer) and physical body, bringing in a sense of purpose, harmony and interconnectedness to the physical world and 5D consciousness, alternative realms, and spiritual world.
Manomaya Kosha (Mind Sheath): This layer is associated with the emotions, feelings, and the lower mind, including the subconscious. Kundalini activation can help draw deep, heavy, or repressed emotions to the surface in order to raise and release them, allowing for a feeling of inner peace, stillness, or lightness to wash over you. It can help bring a sense of purity and calmness to the self, aiding in the release of grief, trauma and PTSD.
Vijnanamaya Kosha (Wisdom/Intellect Sheath): This is the layer of higher consciousness, the intuitive and intellectual mind, and the ability to discriminate and reason. Kundalini activation can help bring the aspirant out of their 'head' (mind), and back into the body, breeding a sense of mindful awareness and personal presence. This can help release anxiety (often stemming from worry and fear about the future), and create a calm state for the mind, allowing for easier decisions and more confidence to arrive.
Anandamaya Kosha (Bliss Sheath): This is the innermost and most subtle layer, which is the sheath of pure bliss, joy, and spiritual essence that is the closest to the true self. Kundalini activations can bring you into states of pure bliss, feeling whole, loved, complete within the self. This can be incredibly empowering, as it brings the aspirant into a feeling of inner peace, where you can easily look at situations in a new light, creating more tenacity, resilience and personal power to direct the future with ease.

What to expect:
Each session (group or 1:1), will be different based on the practitioner, their lineage, knowledge, experience and background. In the sessions that I offer, I will often describe what kundalini is, how the activation works, what you may experience on and off the mat, and how those experiences start to impact your waking life over time. Kundalini Activations are designed for those who are prepared to meet their depths, their darkness, and do the true transformational work to create change - it is a path of devotion, where you will constantly experience cycles of death and rebirth to become who you really are.
After the introductions, you will usually lie down on a yoga mat or the floor (allowing for movements, kriya's, physical releases), and the transmission of energy will begin to create a bio field of energy, which amplifies the energy within yourself, activating your life force, shakti, or kundalini. Through this, your life force energy rises to meet it, allowing anything below that frequency to rise, to be witnessed, released, or embodied in a more empowering way. It often drops you into the alpha and delta states of conscious awareness, and can sometimes seem as though you are watching a glimpse of a movie or a 'story' you may have been holding in fast-forward. Your 'mind' can sometimes want to make sense of it, but the information is often filtered, or inconsistent, because you don't need to make sense of it in order for it to be released.
Everyone experiences Kundalini Activation's differently though, and it is largely based on where they are at on their spiritual, healing, and personal evolution. Kundalini Activation is designed as a regular event to help you shift through the layers of the body (koshas) - energetically, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Even if your experience is subtle in the beginning, it is important to stay the course (at least 8 sessions), and to create time to notice the little life progressions and releases along the way. It is not a performative experience; you are not doing it, it is happening - and when it does, you will understand what this truly means.
Example session layout:
Welcome explanation and intention
Somatic experience or breathwork
Kundalini Activation energy healing (usually about 60-90 minutes)
Integration and sharing circle

Common experiences during a session:
Please do not expect to be doing somersaults, performing channelled kriya's (a series of movements, sometimes spontaneous), speaking in tongues, yelling, or bawling your eyes out - as these kind of depictions can often shaoe your subconscious experience. Though these things are very possible, and you may find others within the class experience these, every one will find their own experience is entirely unique. Its important here to remind you to let go of the ego, the mind that tells you it knows what will or should happen; and to allow yourself to soften into the feeling centres that help you mindfully switch off, being present, and in a state of absoloute surrender to the wisdom of your life force energy - Kundalini.
Some people (especially those that are new to spiritual practises) won't feel much at all during the activation, because it is working on the subtle layers in preparation of a greater unfolding. These people often find it hard to fully surrender, rest, or get out of their heads, for example 'A type' personalities that find it hard to let go of control, which may change over time. It is incredibly important to note, thst people whom may have experienced trauma may find it hard to let go also, as they often have subconscious protective mechanisms that are trying to keep them 'safe', meaning it can be harder to let go and surrender. 1:1 sessions may be more beneficial in this case, developing a strong professional relationship with a supportive therapist, so trust can be built.
Other experiences can include:
Peaceful experiences of bliss, love, and light.
Pressure, heaviness, or the resurfacing of old injuries/pain.
Visual experiences such as seeing colours, lights, patterns, sacred geometry, spirit guides, alternative realities or past lives, insights and deep knowing's.
Astral projection or transcendental experiences.
Dream state.
Stillness inside and out.
Physical sensations such as heat, cold, vibrations, itchiness, tingling, subtle body movements, energy currents moving through you.
Spontaneous body movements such as muscle jerks, kriya's, mudras, yoga poses, stretches, or smaller movements that naturally want to occur.
Trembling, micro tremors, or quivering.
Heat or cold in specific areas of the body.
Coughing, sneezing, sighing.
Yelling, screaming, crying, or even laughing.
Light language or speaking in tongues.
Journeying with spirit guides or loved ones who have past over and receiving messages from other realms.
Visiting past memories and finding new perspectives.
Spectrum of emotions from happiness, joy, excitement, to anticipation, anger, resentment, sadness, grief, pain and shame.
Emotional releases such as crying, laughing, orgasmic bliss and feelings of sensuality, anger or rage (including yelling or screaming).
Seeing your future self and life unfolding.
The above sensations and experiences are signs of releasing built up trauma, pain, and tension within the body, clearing the way for true healing and renewal. Once the energy is activated in a session, it can continue to work for approximately 24 hours, rewiring the nervous system, repatterning energrtic pathways, and creating cellular change.

Do you have any tips to get the most out of my journey?
It helps to 'brain dump' before a session, write a list of the 'to do's' you might need to action, or find a way to still your mind so you can really focus on the mind-body-soul connection and the interaction they start to create on the mat. The more you can surrender to the process and let go of control (e.g. ask the mind to release control, stop over thinking and analysing), the more you will experience, explore, and release.
Quick tips:
Do not arrive on a full stomach (we suggest you don't eat 2-4 hours prior)
Come hydrated, but make sure your bladder isn't feeling too full
Steer clear of coffee or stimulants prior to (and after) the event
Clear your schedule for an hour or two after to start integrating
Do not take recreational drugs or alcohol
Be as open as you can be, and allow yourself to surrender to the process

Integration: Integration is what happens after the experience, off the mat. It can take time for your system to make sense of all that was released or embodied in a session, and so it is imperative to give yourself time to amplify what is needed. Sometimes you may be tested (e.g. an old flame comes into your life, a challenge occurs where your boundaries/worth/confidence is tested, or you may feel distance from your work/people in your life etc.), sometimes you may soften (e.g. you allow yourself to feel more of your emotions, or tell someone how you really feel), sometimes you may feel something new simmering within (e.g. a new idea, vocation, desire), or sometimes you may just feel at peace with something that has been bothering you (e.g. you heal a cycle/belief/trigger/story). Whatever your journey is, it is personal to you, so it's best to be open minded and let go of the inner critic to see what needs to land - and change.
Over days and months, integration will continue as long as you continue with the work. The commitment. The devotion.
Other things you may notice after your experience:
Heightened awareness and psychic senses come more open or active.
Interdimensional awareness & connectedness.
Sleeplessness after a session as you are releasing things at a subconscious level.
Feeling heat in your body, especially hands and feet. Utilise cold therapy.
Healing of old trauma and wounds.
Fatigue as your body comes back to a sesne of homeostasis where it can heal.
Enhanced sounds, smells, colours & pereception.
More openness to others and self.
Enhanced sensuality.
Feeling more self empowered & confident
Rewiring of your nervous system often feeling more calm and in control.
Repatterning of energetic pathways.
Best integration tips:
Hydrate! Drink a hydrolyte, or add lemon & Himalayan pink salt to your water.
Journal and make space to reflect to anchor what you learned, embodied and released.
Sharing circles or talk therapy are great if you feel called to process what has risen with words and supportive understanding.
Make some down time to be in your own energy and stillness.
Let your loved ones know how you are feeling so they can support (or give you solitude).
Listen to calming music .
Make time to breath; deep nose inhales into the belly and chest, and exhales through the mouth can help move energy through you, continuing the release.
Notice the little 'shifts' - what do you feel draw to? repulsed by? how do you feel? what has changed within? What do you know now, that you didn't before?
Yoga, walking, swimming and movement can really help integrate new energy and raise your vibration. Connect with your body and its wisdom.
Do not drink alcohol or take recreational drugs at least 24 hours after the Kundalini Activation.
Eat grounding, nourishing foods (and drink MORE water).
Look for a good quality Magnesium Glycinate to aid sleep, and muscle stiffness if needed.
Be kind to yourself, and seek external support if and when needed.
